Maverick Construction has extensive experience designing and implementing Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). DAS systems extend mobile telephone signal coverage in buildings and tunnels, where outdoor radio signals cannot reach. These systems are often implemented as low-cost alternatives to base stations in areas where hills, buildings, and other structures can cause lost or diminished signals.
DAS systems may be the preferred solution for wireless coverage because the installation of cellular towers can be lengthy and expensive, particularly if there are zoning or space restrictions. DAS systems increase wireless service providers’ coverage and provide them direct access to high-value residential zones that often prohibit cellular tower construction. And DAS systems promise to be a viable resolution for cities and towns looking for an alternative to tower development and wireless service providers looking to improve coverage to problem areas.
Maverick has experience working with governmental agencies initiating the offering of wireless coverage, and we are uniquely qualified to install and support DAS technology. We successfully bid on the installation of the wireless network within the Central Artery Tunnel, commonly referred to as the Big Dig, in Boston. We can construct, own, or operate DAS systems as a third-party neutral host.
